    Story

Oh. Em. Gee. You will not believe what just happened to me!

Hi! I’m Houdini, and have I got a story for you! Just a few months ago, I was living way up north, by myself, out in the cold, and then these people came and did the WEIRDEST thing – they put me in a box and drove me away from there! I have to say, I really didn’t like that box. So I chewed my way out. So then they put me in another box just like it – silly, really. I chewed my way out of it, too. I’m told that’s why I’m called Houdini. I spent the rest of the drive sitting with the driver, looking out the window, and that was much better!

They took me to a big building with some other doggos, and I was there for a few days. It was pretty scary for me – so many new noises, and people, and smells; I just wanted to hide. Then, another new person came, and put me in ANOTHER box (seriously? What did they think was going to happen?) and drove me away from the big scary building. I really tried to chew through it, but before too long, she let me out. After so many changes, so fast, I was pretty freaked out, and she gave me a room to hide in, all to myself, until I was ready to come out. She came in and sat with me and fed me and pet me, and it took some time, but one day I ventured out and explored the rest of the house.

Now I live with her, and her family, and even two fur-brothers! I’m warm and safe and fed. I LOVE to play with my foster brothers, and really enjoy getting pets from people. One of my foster brothers really loves to be on the couch with people – man, that looks great, but I’m not quite brave enough to get up there, yet. I really want to though! I haven’t figured out toys , and I’m still working on house training, but I won’t make a mess in my room – even if there is one of those weird box things in there. So far I’ve left it alone, and it’s keeping to itself, so I guess its okay. Outside is pretty scary for me still – there are so many weird noises here! Now that it’s warmer out, my foster mom says we are going to spend more time outside together – I feel safer out there when she’s petting me.

I’ve come a really long way, and I’m still adjusting to all the changes, but soon I’ll be ready for my next adventure!
