Meet Dave G!
Dave is an excitable, energetic big boy. He loves people and is so delighted to be your shadow. He would make a great jogging partner or just a great motivator to get outside and play! He loves all people and is so kind to all two legged friends he meets… whether it’s men, women, family, strangers, what have you – even his groomer said he was “immaculate” and a total gem!!
Dave can be dog selective and isn’t sure about all dogs; he has growled at others to let them know he doesn’t want to play or get too close. However, after some good introductions he has become pretty friendly with his foster siblings; within a couple of days he was snuggling on the couch with them, loving long walks together, sharing a bed, and even cries a little when they get to go out and it isn’t his turn yet! Dave really just wants to love and be loved, but he has to make sure he feels safe first. We think that Dave is much more open to female dogs or dogs he sees as less “big and scary”, but that didn’t stop him from warming up to his big foster brother within a week anyway!!
He hasn’t been tested with kiddos yet, but there’s a good chance he would do pretty well based on his endless love of people. He is extremely strong for 65 lbs though, so no little humans holding the other end of the leash
Cats though… not a good idea! He has let us know that he does have a pretty strong prey drive for little animals he runs into. Dave is awesome at sleeping in his kennel, (although he might protest for 1-5 minutes at first before he settles), is extremely well house trained, and looooves car rides… sounds like an awesome best buddy, right?!
Ps. About other dogs: Dave would likely do well with another dog who is calm, understands boundaries well, is willing to allow for slow relationship and trust building, and one that can show him other dogs aren’t so scary after all.
Dave is eager to please and would love a family who can give him an active home and some mental stimulation through training. He’s just waiting to be your new best friend!
