Playful and sweet, Layla is a lovely young cat.
Layla came into AARCS care with a few unknown medical issues. She is very unstable when she walks, has poor balance, and couldn’t stop scratching. Radiographs show some bone fragments present, so her lack of balance is likely due to an injury. After running many tests, it seems her itchiness is due to allergies. We are working on getting this under control with a hypoallergenic diet and some allergy pills. Layla will likely need to be on a hypoallergenic diet to be comfortable.
None of her issues slow her down! She loves to play and wrestle with other cats. She pulls all the toys out of the toy box in her foster home and spreads them all over the house. Her lack of balance doesn’t stop her from hopping up on low chairs and benches, although sometimes she’ll topple right back off of them. She also has a cute wobble when she walks. There is a kitten in her foster home that she’ll play with for hours and a dog in her foster home that she mostly just ignores. She is very sweet and will let her foster humans carry her around and purrs very loudly while she gets her tummy scratched.
Layla would do best in a home with another young cat to play with. She’ll need her own space to eat her special diet, but since she can’t reach any high counters it’s really easy to keep her from eating other food.
