Polka is shy and fearful. She is uncomfortable with men. She needs someone who will be patient with her and help her manage her fears. Polka is an approximately 6-year-old female that did not have the best start to her life. She spent the first part of her life living in in a puppy mill producing litter after litter of puppies. She has graduated from being a mom and gets to focus on herself now.
Polka is one of the bravest dogs I know. Despite her rough beginning, she lives to make her ‘mom’ happy. She has a huge heart that is brimming over with joy and love. Her whole body shakes with happiness when women speak kindly and gently to her. She has a goofy grin she’ll share with you when life is good. Polka has been making some progress with meeting men. She needs to have her space and make her own decisions whenever encountering a new fearful situation, such as men. She is still wary, but she has taken treats from men who give her space.
Polka loves to walk and explore her world. She walks beautifully most of the time. Since she wants to smell everything, she often zigs and zags, but she never pulls. She is oblivious to hares, squirrels, and barking dogs. Polka will make a great hiking partner or neighbourhood walker. She just wants to be with you indoors and outdoors.
Polka gets along well with all dogs. She meets them politely and is happy to walk with other dogs. She would benefit from a home with a confident dog to help her meet those scary situations head on.
Polka looks bigger in her pictures than she really is. She is a gorgeous, petite girl, weighing about 40 pounds.” We are looking for someone that can take over Polka’s training and confident building. Someone that will love her, spoil her for the rest of her life and give her all the affection she craves. Polka deserves the world and a forever home that will give her everything she could possibly need.
