Little Bubba is learning that the world isn’t such a scary place!
Bubba came into AARCS care after a dog attack left him with puncture wounds to his hind leg that were left untreated and became badly infected. His physical wounds are healed, and he has worked very hard learning to trust people and other animals. He’s still quite shy of people, and while he’s not a huge fan of people approaching him, he recently started to approach his foster mom and ask her for affection, which is a HUGE breakthrough for him. He will do best in a household experienced with dogs, who are willing to work with him on his confidence and have the patience to earn his trust.
He is house trained, but does better confined to a smaller space when unsupervised, and doesn’t yet ask to be let out. His crate and his bed are his safe places, but he prefers to have his crate door open. He walks well on leash, although he is nervous of approaching strangers and prefers to stand and wait for them to pass.
Bubba was initially quite withdrawn with other dogs, but has learned to trust his fur foster brother and cousins, and they get pretty rowdy outside! He loves toys – balls, chew toys, squeakies – but he sometimes has trouble figuring out how to get them to work, the poor guy! He would do well with a confident fur-sibling who can respect that he isn’t always in the mood to play and who he can lean on when he needs some support – like when the vacuum comes out!
I’ll need a lot of love and patience, but I promise I’ll be worth it!
