As the singer Billy Idol says “It’s a great day to start again.” That’s exactly what Mr. Billy Idol the Poodle is doing! A new leash on life is in order for this handsome dude!
Billy was one of many dogs rescued from a puppy mill in southern Alberta. Due to his troubled past, he is very shy and timid and will need a home who is patient, loving and kind to help him build up his canine confidence. ❤
He is not your typical Poodle! Billy has come so far in the past few months but will really need to find the perfect home that will understand his fears and work with him every single day to prove to him that the world really isn’t so bad! Billy Idol is currently in a foster home with both dogs and cats and feels comfortable around them, so it would be best for Billy to find a home with another confident canine to show him “how to dog”! He just LOVES DOGS but it can take him a while to warm up, but once he starts to play, he REALLY LOVES TO PLAY, PLAY, PLAY!
When Billy first arrived, he was absolutely terrified, matted, rotting teeth and his ears were full of infection leaving him in terrible pain and constant irritation. He would sit hunched over at the very back of his run as far away from people as possible. It took about a month before he would even go outside on a leash. Now he loves his leashed walks and doesn’t even pull! He is a real dream to take on a nice walk. Billy has a favorite spot — the backyard….in the sandbox! He would stay out there all day and night if we let him ;).
Billy is kenneled when his foster mom and dad are not home and he has done pretty well! A couple barks here and there as he can get lonely, but overall he does really well in a crate! Breakfast and dinner are his two favorite times of the day and he will chow down as long as you are not hovering — but we’re working on that! Billy Idol would make a great addition to someone’s family, as long as it is the right fit for Billy!

Does this Animal have Special Needs?
Both, Medical and Behavioral
Billy Idol is still quite shy and will need someone with patience who will help him build his confidence and work on socialization. His ears were severely infected and had ruptured eardrums upon intake. He has been on medications to help recover which have been helpful, but could be an on-going issue for the rest of his life if not properly cared for.
