Hi! I’m Skipper and aren’t I the cutest boy around? I’ve come a long way since finding my way to AARCS and am now ready to have a home of my own. Could it be yours?
Hi there! Aren’t I just the cutest little man you’ve ever seen? Well, let me tell you a bit about myself. My name is Skipper and I’m an adult Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. True to my breed, I’m silky soft and cuddly, my tail wags non-stop and I bond easily to my people. Since I’m not suited to being left alone for long periods of time, I sure hope that you work from home, or are retired! Then I can hang out with you all the time! Yeah!
Due to my unfortunate past, I am shy and easily frightened by loud noises and sudden movements. It’s not my fault though, and I’m trying hard to be brave. It’s also scary to meet new men, but if they are kind and gentle, I will relax. It took me a while to trust my foster Dad, but it helps when he gives me treats and comes for walks. I am frightened by the fast movements of children, but maybe teens are ok as long as they are kind and gentle.
I’ve met lots of cats and because they ignored me, I ignored them right back. I’ve also met a few dogs and think they’re pretty ok too. I would love the company of a social dog as a sibling to learn from and help build my confidence. But, I could be an only dog too. I’m still trying to figure out how to play with toys but one day I’ll get it.
So, anyway, I was rescued a few months ago with 131 other dogs and since then and have learned so much about being a pet and living in a house. I didn’t know that dogs get soft beds, blankets and sofas to sleep on! And get regular meals of delicious and nutritious food! And that they get walks! And that they don’t have to sleep where they pee!
My foster home has a doggy door for me which is really fun to use! In, out, in, out, in, out! I’m learning that it’s fun be in the back yard watching the birds and squirrels, or napping in the grass. Speaking of naps, it’s one of my favourite things to do! And go for walks! And eat treats!
The time has now come for me to continue my life story with you. I’ll need a quiet home with you by my side as I learn to conquer my fears. In return, I’ll give you unlimited access to petting me, scratching my ears, and love. I’ve had a rough start in life, and have missed out on a lot, but am forever grateful to all the nice people that worked so hard to give my friends and I a better life.
