Did you say you love Beagles? Well maybe I’m the girl for you!
I spent my whole life as a breeding dog in a puppy mill, living in an indoor / outdoor enclosure. That experience has left me with some issues that I am working really hard to overcome!
I absolutely adore other dogs – big, small, young or old and am not comfortable unless I have doggie friends around me – the more, the merrier! I respect those of the feline persuasion and try to avoid them whenever possible. While I really do like kids and am very gentle with them, I am nervous about loud noises and unpredictable movements, so little ones tend to be too much for me to handle. The one thing that I love almost as much as other dogs is women. Boy oh boy am I sucker for them! Once I have time to learn to trust them, I turn into the suckiest lovebug ever. All I want to do is follow them everywhere and flop over for belly rubs at every opportunity!
One thing that I’m really struggling with due to my past is learning to trust strangers & men. To me, both are absolutely terrifying and I just want to run away from them immediately! I will warm up to women after a few meetings and over an extended period of time, I do start to trust men a little bit too. But I think I would prefer to just not have to be around men very much if possible. Maybe there is some quiet, gentle man out there who can win me over someday but I haven’t met him yet! I also really don’t like to be left alone (especially without other dogs around me), so I will howl and try to figure out a way to escape. I can jump really high and sometimes even figure out how to open doors in my quest to be reunited with you (hopefully for more belly rubs). Oh and I have some ongoing ear issues too – they don’t bother me much but my foster mom and the doggie doctors are always fussing about my ears and trying to keep them clean.
Other than that, well, I’m a Beagle, so I have a lot of energy! I love to play, play, play. Because of my fear of strangers & men, I can’t really go for walks in the city yet but I love to head out of town to quiet areas. I’m also told that I’m unbelievably smart so I always need different toys, chews and things to keep me occupied. Hiding things from me so I can seek them out is a super fun game that I’m starting to discover too!
It may take a bit of work to get to know me – but trust me I’m SO worth the effort!
