This little cutie will steal your heart!
Hey if you are looking for a great dog check me out, I’m pretty special. Cute, smart, playful, joyful and calm too. Like most of my canine friends I must have exercise and play time to keep me happy but once I’m inside I’m content to be at your side just chilling out. That’s not to say I’m not going to bark at a stranger passing by because I am, after all I take my role pretty seriously and like to alert you of any potential danger. After I know there is no threat, I’m as friendly as can be when we meet. If they pet me we are pretty much besties right from the start.
Oh and by the way I’d really like it if you would make it a priority for us to go out for walks.I like being outside with you and I don’t mind being on a leash at all. I love to explore and sniff everything around me and think nature is the best. When I hear little critter sounds I perk right up and stand at attention, you know just like us retrievers do, it makes me look strong and brave. If I had my way I would chase them too but when I’m on a leash I’m easily redirected to continue on our journey.
For play time I really enjoy playing fetch, I even bring the ball back to you. Tug is fun too and if there is another playful dog nearby I enjoy spending time being social with my canine friends (but don’t think I’m going to give them my ball like I will for you, I’d much rather have them chase me – I’m really very good at not letting them get it.)
Around the house I’m learning a few new things. When I get my food I eat it really fast because I haven’t always known when I’ll get my next meal and it tastes so good, besides I have a few pounds to put on. I like it so much I don’t want to share it with my foster fur brothers but if my humans take it away, that’s okay. You can even take things from my mouth and I won’t get snappy – I respect you! I really love good treats and they are helping me to learn new things. I stay in a crate when everyone is away from the house and I’m not to keen on it but I settle after my initial sadness. I tried sleeping overnight in a crate but didn’t like it much, it made me feel nervous and so my foster family decided I was doing so well they just let me sleep on the floor near them and I’m peaceful(might be a good idea to put the toilet bowl lid down as I know water is in there if I’m thirsty during the night). I like sleeping close to others but like my space too. I’m a very good companion you know.
One thing funny about me is I walk really loud in the house, its almost like my feet are a little too big for me. It makes my foster family giggle and sometimes they call me Thumper. As for a bathroom schedule, I haven’t completely got it all figured out and I’m going to have to rely on you for a bit to help me with a schedule, it won’t take long as I’m making lots of progress its just that I like you to come outside with me and then you can praise me when I get it right. The only other thing about me you might want to know is I’m really fast going in and out of a door/gate so please watch me carefully. I’ve never tried to run away because I really like having a home and others around me but you never know and I’d rather be safe.
Oh, one last thing, I can’t make this a promise but right now I’m not big into chewing things left around. Seriously, there are shoes everywhere in the home where I’m staying and I’m just not that into them. I have chew toys and if they smell really good I have a good chew but otherwise I have other things to do with my time. I do like balls though(hint hint).
I just want you to know I’m really good buddy material and I’m ready to start exploring this world together. I think I would be happy in any arrangement – single/couple or a family just as long as you spend good quality time with me and keep me busy.
Sweet, Smart and Joyful that’s me!!
