  • Story

Sova is extremely scared of everything and everybody. She has been abused, mistreated and doesn’t trust humans.

“There is a potential that I am the sweetest Bengal you have ever met. I might be scared today and I even might be hissing at you, but I really am on my way to be a human lover. My official name is Sova and I was bought on Kijiji. People who bought me were scared of me as I was hissing, growling, and spitting but they didn’t understand that I was more afraid of them than they were of me. As my new people didn’t have any experience with extremely shy and petrified cats they brought me to AARCS.

Now I live with my foster parents and two other cats. They call me Speckles because I have really beautiful Bengal markings. They say that most likely I was abused or mistreated and never got to experience what it meant to be played with and loved.

I don’t growl anymore, I just hiss at first, as per protocol, and then I allow them to pet me, and then I purr like crazy. I am learning that I love to play and what it means to be a cat. I didn’t know that I could jump till my foster parents showed me a thing on the string and called it “”Da Bird””.

I absolutely adore my foster brother. He is really chill and patient with me. My foster sister and I, potentially, have some territorial disagreements. We are really working on it and with time, I am sure, we will work this out as we are in training. They call it the Treat Therapy. I don’t know what that is but we both love fish flakes and sardines. I want to be loved by you.”
