Hi, I’m Hamilton, I’m 5 months old and ready to be adopted. I am an energetic mix breed puppy with big brown eyes, a big smile when I run and a loving nature. I love to play in the yard and go for long walks but also love to cuddle up with my foster mom for a nice nap. I sleep through the night, love my treats and learn things very quickly. I am potty trained, house trained, crate trained, car trained and leash trained (whew) and love everyone I meet.
Hamilton came into AARCS a month and a half ago and had to be quarantined for a few weeks as his best friend and kennel mate tested positive for Parvo. After testing negative for Parvo (we were all so happy!), Hamilton is now ready to be adopted after being with his foster family for a month. He has learned so much in one month that we think he might be our smartest foster dog yet. Hamilton has learned to sit, lie down, roll on his side and shake-a-paw, while (more importantly for us), he has also learned to run to the front door when he has to go potty. He is fully crate trained and will sleep 8 hours through the night without a peep, but will come out in the morning raring to go. He walks very nice on the leash (on our left) and continually looks up at us to make sure he is doing good and not stepping on any toes. He also travels very well – during car rides he will have a nice nap in his crate in the back seat. He can also be groomed easily and doesn’t even mind going to the vet. He gets brushed after every walk (as long as he gets a treat) and while he doesn’t love baths he does tolerate. He also wears booties and a coat going outside in the winter when it’s really cold (without shaking either off) and wears a harness when going for a walk.
Hamilton loves people and takes an instant liking to everyone he meets. Everyone at the vet says he was wonderful and affectionate even with strangers. When coming home from work, Hamilton meets us at the door and wags his tail so hard his whole bum shakes. He also goes into his crate during the day when we are out and is quiet as a mouse. He loves his chew and pull toys and has lots of energy, but he also loves to cuddle up during the evening in “”your spot”” and make himself at home. He is very loving, lovable and affectionate but can be a “”cheeky little monkey”” when he wants to be and wants to play. He loves to chase leaves in the backyard and would love to run around in a big backyard.
Hamilton has wonderful white socks and big brown eyes, eyes that look at you when he is thinking and when you talk to him. He currently eats dry dog food but is smart enough to know that when you are cooking pieces of food may fall off of the counter – he sits on your feet just waiting for something to come his way! He sits nice for his food and loves treats and bones and doesn’t growl when you feed him at all (he is just excited to have another meal in his belly). He has added wonderful energy to our home (he is an only dog right now) and would do well in a home with kids, dogs (probably cats too) and anyone that would love him.
